Commissioners approve Budget Amendment No. 37 to cover register of deeds payments and emergency‑response grants

County Attorney Ben Faulkenberry presented Budget Amendment No. 37 at the May meeting and the board approved it unanimously.
Faulkenberry said the amendment increases general fund expenditures by $54,432 to cover several items: estimated state payments required of the register of deeds; reimbursement to the sheriff’s office from a North Carolina Emergency Management deployment grant for hurricane response to Rutherford and Yancey counties; a state grant for county veterans offices from the North Carolina Department of Military and Veterans Affairs; and a reallocation of senior center operations grant funds from the Home and Community Care Block Grant. Faulkenberry said the 10% local match requirement for the senior center reallocation would be met with expenses already included in the senior center budget.
A motion to approve amendment No. 37 was made, seconded and carried by unanimous voice vote. No commissioner dissented in the record.
