University Heights City Council approved a work order on May 5 for engineering services related to the North Cliff water-main project, authorizing $19,552 to complete specifications and construction administration.
City Engineer Murphy said all new water main has been installed and the city is awaiting Cleveland Water to test and clear the line, ensure it holds pressure and permit chlorination. Once testing is complete, crews will perform service connection replacements (three to four per day expected) and then move to pavement restoration.
Murphy told council the existing plans were prepared by GDP Group and were updated by the current engineering consultant; the scope was once combined with a Saybrook project and later split. The work order covers finishing design items and construction-phase engineering oversight to ensure the project proceeds to bid and construction as approvals come back from Cleveland Water.
Council voted to approve the work order; Murphy said she expects about a week more of construction to finalize service connections before pavement restoration begins.
