United Way and the Community Foundation for Iroquois County announced a new local chapter of the Imagination Library that will deliver free books monthly to children from birth to age 5.
Mariah, introduced as director for United Way, said the program launches immediately through the Community Foundation and the Valley Party Foundation. She said every child ages 0 to 5 in the county is eligible to sign up and have books delivered to their home at no cost. Tyler Eber, chief of staff for a state representative’s office, joined the announcement in support.
Organizers said the program eliminates the prior waiting list and that sign-ups are available through the United Way web portal (myunitedme.org/imagination). United Way staff said they plan outreach through local partners, colleges and parenting programs and invited county staff and board members to share sign-up information and flyers at local events.
The presenters said the program is part of broader early-childhood initiatives and local family-support efforts. They encouraged anyone with questions about availability in neighboring counties to check the national Imagination Library website for participating counties.
