Committee recommends $3.32 million MOU with State Parks for High Plains Arboretum rehabilitation

Jason Sanchez of Community Recreation and Events described the MOU as setting terms under which the state will oversee and disperse funds to the city; Carly Ann (Carruthers/Crothers), planning manager for State Parks, said the funding originates from an appropriation in the state budget (the bill that would have transferred management control failed but the appropriations remained). Potential early projects include designing a drip irrigation system for trees, renovating the head house, and greenhouse repairs; Sanchez said quotes for asbestos and lead abatement and design work were being solicited and that design and bidding would follow. The committee moved to recommend approval of the MOU in an amount not to exceed $3,323,757 and forwarded it to City Council.
