DDA administrator Sophia Mays presented a proposed budget of $728,450 and described staffing of two full-time positions and one part-time social media assistant. The budget anticipates a city contribution of $195,915, a mill-levy increase projecting $487,000, and a change in anticipated interest income due to market yields; the DDA plans to hold about $785,000 in reserves to cover staffing needs or in case the city MOU does not continue. Strategic goals listed include the Fifteenth Street experience, downtown wayfinding and streetscape improvements, parking design supplement and phased on-street changes, and winter event coordination.
Mays said the DDA board had authorized releasing an RFP for communications work with an expected higher cost than the $10,000 placeholder in the draft budget and that she was advised to wait to amend the budget until a vendor is selected. Committee members asked about coordination on use of new barricades for summer events, the timeline for parking improvements, and the DDA’s outreach to transportation providers; Mays said some questions would require follow-up. The committee voted to recommend approval and forward the resolution to City Council.
