Commissioners add an e-recording vendor to county system; no cost to county

Freestone County commissioners approved adding an additional electronic-recording vendor to the county’s e-recording system after staff explained the vendor integration and that there would be no charge to the county.
Staff noted the county currently accepts filings from three major e-recording companies and the new vendor — identified by staff as an additional third-party option — would be added so customers can choose whichever vendor they prefer when filing documents electronically. Staff said customers pay the third-party vendor fees and the county receives payment electronically into its bank account; there is no cost to the county for adding the vendor.
A staff member explained the change responded to outreach from an experienced e-filing company employee who moved to the new vendor and brought customers with them. Commissioners approved the addition and recorded the motion as carried.
