Hazard Mitigation Planning Board approves minutes, elects officers and accepts annual report; sandbag pickup announced

A board member moved to approve the minutes as presented; the motion was seconded and the board voted in favor. Hogan then nominated Amy Bledsoe to continue as chair; the nomination received a second and the board approved the nomination by voice vote. The board also elected Ed Hogan to serve as vice chairman for 2025; a member moved, a second was given, and the motion carried by voice vote.
The annual report for 2025, submitted by Ms. Bledsoe, was presented for review. A board member noted minor typographical corrections had been forwarded and moved to approve the report; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote.
In board-member time, Hogan relayed a county news release announcing a sandbag pickup for residents on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at the Saint Andrews Landfill and encouraged residents to register for local emergency notifications via the county's CodeRED system (county web pages). A board member also noted that a traffic signal will be installed at the VA in Charlotte Hall, explaining the temporary detour signs and median work currently in place.
