City staff: ODOT work on North Van Buren largely complete; crews expect cleanup and striping finished by early June

City staff updated the Enid City Commission on May 20 on construction work along North Van Buren (US 81) north of the overpass up to Carrier Road, saying the bulk of the construction is complete and that cleanup, striping and sign replacement are scheduled to finish in early June.
Jason, a city staff member who provided the update, said he spoke with the ODOT project manager, who “expected to be done with all that, and the removal of the traffic control cones and whatnot, by June 6.” Jason told commissioners that city mowing crews will resume work after the contractor finishes cleanup so mowers do not hit debris or stray material left from construction.
Commissioners asked whether the center median and contractor staging areas would be cleaned; staff said they would follow up and expect the contractor to return the median to its prior condition but would double-check and arrange additional cleanup if necessary. City staff said they will coordinate to avoid damage to city equipment and to clear debris that could impact motorists.
The update was provided as part of a follow-up to the May 20 study-session agenda and was informational; no formal action was required or taken.
