Kane County staffer Josh Beck resigns; committee hears plan to reassign Office of Community Reinvestment programs

Josh Beck, a long-serving staffer in the Kane County Office of Community Reinvestment, informed the committee that he submitted his resignation last week; his last day will be June 4.
Mark Van Kirkhoff, Development Department staff, briefed the committee that Beck has begun transitioning responsibilities and that county leadership has been working with the chair and HR on a proposal to reorganize programs Beck managed. Van Kirkhoff said most programs in that division are federally funded (Community Development Block Grants, HOME) and that some programs would be moved back under the Development Department while homeless-related programs would move to the Health Department. He said staff are preparing a resolution and reorganization proposal for the June executive committee and the full board.
Committee member Allen praised Beck’s 15 years of institutional knowledge and credited him with helping deliver millions of dollars in federal funds to local projects. Beck thanked colleagues and said he enjoyed his time with the county.
Van Kirkhoff asked whether committee members objected to moving the reorganization directly to the executive committee in June; no objection was raised and staff said they would prepare the proposal for executive committee consideration. No formal committee vote was recorded; the record reflects staff direction to prepare a resolution and implementation plan.
