Commission approves several local parking changes including a 90-day disabled stall trial

On a request to remove a "no parking during soccer games" restriction on the north side of Seventh Street from Chantel to Downer, staff said the change was a cleanup related to a new school project; Alder Eck signaled support and the commission approved the change.
Separately, the Traffic Division requested a third disabled parking stall on North Roosevelt just north of Main Street to serve an office conversion in the area. Staff proposed making the additional stall time-limited to 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and installing a supplemental sign for a 90-day trial. "If it doesn't work, we take off the supplement," staff said. The commission approved the 90-day trial; staff will install the stall and monitor usage.
The commission also moved to modify parking on the south side of School Place north of South Oakland Avenue adjacent to Seymour Park. The change will shift a "no parking" sign to open a bump-out that can accommodate an estimated six cars, with precise distances to be finalized when the ordinance text is prepared.
All three motions were made, seconded and approved at the meeting.
