"AI nurse feels like a generic term," one senator said, arguing Oregon cannot effectively police social media use of generic terms. Another said that when the list was tied to specific licenses the authors had addressed the committee's concerns and she would support the amendment.
The committee adopted the dash 2 amendment and later passed HB 2748 as amended to the floor with a due pass recommendation. Vice Chair Hayden agreed to carry the bill.
Members said a broader conversation about AI and health care is coming and highlighted the policy challenge of regulating titles on platforms that are not state-based.
