The Senate Committee on Health and Welfare reported House Bill 210 favorably after the sponsor explained the measure would align the retention period for prescription monitoring program (PMP) query logs with an existing 10‑year retention requirement.
Representative Chestnut said the change was requested by pharmacy regulators: while patient prescription records are retained for 10 years, query logs that show which users requested PMP data had been kept longer; the bill would set the same 10‑year limit for those access logs. Chestnut noted that destruction of retained records within 10 years would require approval from the Secretary of State.
The Board of Pharmacy provided a white card with information; Senator Boudreau moved to report the bill favorably and the committee approved the motion with no recorded opposition.
