Town awards auditing and launch-care contracts, accepts bid for Meadows 2 production well

Town officials reported awarding three procurement actions at the May 12 meeting: a new auditing contract to SB Company LLC that will begin this fall, a three-year launch-care contract in Woodbine awarded to the sole bidder that has provided the service for roughly 25 years, and a successful bid for a new production well at Meadows 2 with a contract amount stated as $1,600,000.

Planning staff said the production-well bid came in under estimate and described the award as a positive procurement outcome. The launch-care contractor was described as the town’s long-time provider; staff said they “do a wonderful job” and were awarded a new three-year contract.

Why it matters: The production well at Meadows 2 is an infrastructure investment that affects local water supply capacity; the auditing contract establishes the town’s external audit provider, and the launch-care contract maintains a recurring operations service. Planning staff said the town has ordered a bid for the Meadows 2 production well and that the award came in at $1,600,000.

Separately, planning staff and commissioners discussed development permitting and allocation of EDU (equivalent dwelling unit) capacity for an apartment project. Staff noted the apartment developer has final approval for a first building but still requires additional EDUs from the recent expansion to proceed on the next phase; staff said they expect the expansion work to wrap up in time for a July start for the next phase and that recorded plans cannot be completed until EDUs are allocated by the health department process.
