Japel Properties' application to rezone approximately 0.96 acres at 8220 Central Pike from C-3 (Highway Commercial) to C-2 (General Commercial) was approved unanimously by the Wilson County Board of Commissioners.
Christopher Wallace of the county planning office explained the application had been submitted to the city of Mount Juliet because the parcel lies inside Mount Juliet’s urban growth boundary and that the Mount Juliet Regional Planning Commission forwarded a positive recommendation from its April 17, 2025 meeting.
A member of the public, Andre Olivier of Mount Juliet, said the requested C-2 designation would better match the building’s commercial use and expand rental opportunities: "we wanted to be able to expand our opportunities for rentals for that building, and we think that zoning C 2 would be a better fit."
A motion to approve the rezoning was made, discussion was minimal, and the vote was recorded as unanimous. The transcript records no conditions or amendments attached to the county-level approval.
