Council members reported May 19 on ongoing work to develop a Village of North Bend emergency operations plan and on a planning meeting with 3 Rivers School representatives to arrange transportation and temporary housing in the event of a local emergency.
The council representative said he met with 3 Rivers superintendent Ault, safety director Steve Macon, communications manager Lisa Whiteley and transportation director Kim O'Meara. According to the council report, 3 Rivers confirmed the district could provide bus transport and make gymnasiums available as temporary holding sites when appropriate, and that a phone call would be sufficient to activate that support.
Council staff said the school suggested a second backup location, naming Whitewater Church on Route 128 as one option, and recommended Oak Hills High School as a further‑away alternative for large relocations. The council member said the school district is working on its own backup transportation arrangements with Metro and that the village would continue to identify additional off‑site locations.
The report noted that media access and parental arrival at school sites were the school officials’ primary concerns during a mass relocation, and the council member said he plans to assign roles for communications and coordination among village staff, elected officials and emergency responders. A draft village plan was expected to be shared with council in June or July for review.
