Transportation staff reported two surprise Transportation Security Administration-style (TSA) visits during bus pre-inspection checks; drivers located planted test bags 100% of the time, a performance leaders called notable compared with national averages. The district said the tests were a training and verification exercise to assess driver vigilance in pre-trip inspections.
Operations staff also said the new distribution center is preparing to accept inventory and staff in about two weeks and that moving will allow the district to phase out off-site storage contracts and consolidate nutrition services and material distribution under one roof. "We'll no longer have off-site storage," an operations presenter said, noting a potential reduction in vendor storage contracts.
Board members asked follow-ups about contract changes and the effect on bus routes and nutrition logistics; staff said the main change will be ceasing off-site storage and confirmed more details will be provided as the move is finalized. No formal board action accompanied the operations report.
