County park reservations near 700; officials urge leash compliance after dog bite report

A county parks staff member said 655 of the 698 reservations were made online and 43 were completed offline, largely for building rentals that were not yet available online. The highway department provided reclaimed material for camping-pad leveling and staff said grass is minimal in some areas requiring fill.
The parks staff said volunteers with search and rescue installed swimming-area buoys and that herbicide and spray preparations are underway. The staff also said there has been a recent increase in unleashed dogs at the park and that a maintenance employee was bitten by a dog that was not on a leash. "So obviously, that's a concern," the staff member said, and reminded campers and visitors to keep animals under control.
Staff noted that leash rules are enforced by a city ordinance and asked the public to comply. No enforcement actions were reported at the May 20 meeting.
