City engineers report near-complete force main, lift-station delays due to utility moves; collection-system rehab bids due

City engineering staff provided a progress update on multiple water and sewer projects, including a CDBG-funded force main and lift-station work and a separate collection-system rehabilitation project.
An engineering representative said the force-main piping is “about 95% complete” and the lift stations are “about 20% complete,” with the contractor due to be substantially complete by October of this year. The project has encountered delays because Duke Energy needed to move poles; staff said Duke, Mediacom and other utilities are working to restore schedules and that the contractor will present a new schedule next week.
On the collection-system rehab and replacement project, staff reported bids are due on June 13 and that 26 plan holders have downloaded plans (staff estimated 8–10 of those are contractors likely to bid). One wet well was installed and another was scheduled for delivery next month. Staff said they produce two to three inspection reports weekly and will continue to track progress.
No formal votes were associated with the update; staff asked commissioners for any questions and will return with contractor schedules and bid results.
