Council endorses county purchase of DS300 voting tabulators to replace aging DS200 machines

The Green Bay Common Council on May 20 adopted a resolution encouraging Brown County to purchase ES&S DS300 voting tabulators to replace aging DS200 machines used in local elections.
City Clerk Jeffreys explained the county-led purchase would allow jurisdictions across Brown County, including the city of Green Bay, to use newer tabulators under an agreement with the county. Jeffreys said the DS200 machines currently in use do not have modems and that the DS300 can be modem-capable but that “the modems would be an extra cost.”
Alder Grant asked whether the newer machines are connected to the internet; Clerk Jeffreys replied that no machines are connected to the internet and that decisions about modems and associated costs would come later if the county proceeds with the purchase.
The council approved the resolution by voice vote without objection. The motion to approve was made by Alder Proffitt and seconded by Alder DeLay.
