Applicant seeks 45-foot truck entrance for Nashville Display expansion; planning staff cites railroad crossing hardship
Summary
Nashville Wire Products requested a variance to widen a new truck driveway from the code-required 35 feet to 45 feet to accommodate truck turning and to cross nearby railroad tracks; staff said the variance was to alleviate truck traffic on Hartman Drive and identified a practical hardship tied to the site geometry.

Lebanon planning staff told commissioners that Nashville Wire Products is seeking site-plan approval and one variance to increase the width of its proposed truck entrance from the code maximum of 35 feet to 45 feet at an expansion on Hartman Drive.
"This variance is being requested to increase the width of the new truck driveway entrance on McAllen from 35 feet to 45 feet to accommodate trucks turning into the site from a narrow street of McAllen. There are also train tracks to cross between this driveway apron and the parking lot, so there is a valid hardship for this request," planning staff said.
Staff characterized the variance as intended to reduce truck traffic on Hartman Drive by improving site ingress/egress. Commissioners asked clarifying questions but did not act; the item remains on the agenda for review.
