The Dothan City Commission approved a resolution to apply for Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) funding through the Alabama Department of Transportation to add sidewalks along West Main Street from Cherokee Avenue to Park Avenue.
Staff described the project limits, saying the work would be on the south side of Main and noted the program requires a local match. “Is that a matching type program, Randy?” a commissioner asked; staff replied, “It is. It's 80%,” indicating an 80/20 federal-local split.
The commission approved the application by voice vote. Staff did not present an engineer’s estimate during the hearing; follow-up engineering, matching commitments and timing will be handled in subsequent steps if the grant is awarded.
