Sydney Miller, who introduced herself as pastor of New Freedom Church in Webb, Alabama, told the commission she and her congregation had acquired the property and intended to use it as a mission center to help address local homelessness. “We ... want to do our part,” Miller said, adding the site had operated as a retail location for more than 20 years and that the group sought the LI zoning to allow their plans.
The commission considered a motion for immediate consideration and then a motion to approve Ordinance 2025-120, which passed by voice vote.
