Committee member Randy asked the administration to follow policy language that calls for a study to cover building condition, program facilities, site adequacy, reassignment plans, transportation impacts, alternative uses, and estimated cost/savings. Morgan said the district has already begun compiling information into a single document and that the study will be needed if and when the committee reaches a decision that must be justified for the Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA) and the community.
Morgan noted the MSBA has provided a one‑year pause, which gives the district time to develop options for FY27. Several committee members urged administration to continue exploring alternatives and avoid premature final reports; others said a final, documented study will be essential when a closure or retirement decision is required.
No formal vote was taken; administration will share the compiled information and return to the committee with updates and, if appropriate, a formal closing study for committee review before any retirement or closure decision.
