Commission approves budget revisions, hires, promotions and staffing-plan changes

Limestone County commissioners voted unanimously to approve budget revisions, several personnel actions including hires and a promotion, changes to the county staffing plan and a merit increase for county employees.

During the meeting, the board approved budget revisions and then took a bundled vote on several personnel items: hiring Caleb Posey and Connor McMainges as temporary, part-time facility grounds workers; promoting Julie McCurry from help desk to title tag clerk; and hiring Alison Thornton as a help desk clerk, all effective May 19. The board also approved staffing-plan amendments to add one solid-waste truck driver (bringing the total to 11 truck drivers) and to revise the license commission staffing to 8 title tag clerks and 5 senior title tag clerks (changing the prior 7 and 6 configuration). Commissioners also approved a merit increase for county employees.

Commissioner Gatlin moved to approve the personnel hires and promotions; Commissioner Townsend seconded. The motions carried on unanimous voice votes. The staffing-plan amendments were moved by Commissioner Townsend, seconded by Commissioner Turner, and approved unanimously. The merit increase was moved by Commissioner Gatlin and seconded by Commissioner Townsend and also carried unanimously.

The meeting transcript records the hires and effective date but does not include individual salary figures or the overall cost of the budget revisions or merit increase. The claims docket of $1,734,763.53 was also approved earlier in the meeting by unanimous vote. Commissioners did not discuss long-term staffing costs or present a line-item fiscal analysis during the public session.
