Parker Town Council voted to award a contract for office and ancillary furniture for the town hall expansion, approving staffs recommendation to hire Projects under RFP 24-023 for a contract amount of $1,500,000.
Staff described the town hall addition as a roughly 32,000-square-foot, two-story addition with select renovations to the existing town hall. The furniture procurement covers departments that will move into the new addition — including town clerk, community development, engineering, public works, economic development, finance and human resources — and selected public spaces, break rooms and larger collaboration/conference areas. Staff said existing furniture will be repurposed where feasible in renovated spaces that remain occupied by departments such as IT, municipal courts and the town managers office.
Project selection followed a competitive process that received 10 responses; two vendors were shortlisted and Projects was selected after showroom visits, mock-up offices, staff testing of task chairs and IT equipment, and final design choices. Staff presented a phased installation schedule: “Phase 1 goods are tentatively scheduled for installation in August or September of this year,” and phase 2 installation is planned for April–May 2026. Goods will be released for fabrication by phase and held by a warehouse/installer (JHL) until installation; on-site assembly is anticipated to take approximately three weeks per phase. Staff told council the procurement came in under the $1.5 million budgeted amount and recommended award.
Council members asked about ergonomics, collaboration spaces and how long it had been since a coordinated furniture update; staff said replacement has been piecemeal for many years and that new furniture includes height-adjustable desks, updated task seating and more collaboration and breakout spaces to support interdepartmental work. Council voted to approve the contract award by motion and second; the motion passed unanimously.
