The Limestone County Commission approved several staffing changes during its May work session, including adding one truck operator to the solid waste division, changing title-tag clerk allocations in the license office, and approving seasonal and help-desk personnel moves.
Commissioners said the new solid-waste position is intended to provide backup coverage when drivers are absent. “We have one driver that is gonna be going out with some medical issues and gonna be out for a pretty — and we just need a spare driver and a trainee,” the chairman (unnamed) said, explaining the need to avoid doubling up routes. The staffing adjustment increases the solid-waste operator complement to 11 truck drivers.
The commission also approved a staffing-plan reclassification in the license and tag office to reflect eight title-tag clerks and five senior title-tag clerks (the prior plan listed seven title-tag clerks and six senior clerks). The commission approved promoting Julia McCurry from help-desk to title-tag clerk effective May 19 and hiring Allison Thornton as a help-desk employee effective May 19. The commission approved two seasonal, part-time summer hires — Caleb Posey and Connor McMain — pending drug screening and start-date confirmation.
Merit increases for several employees were presented; commissioners expressed thanks to county staff and no objections were voiced in the work-session transcript. Several items were combined to streamline action: the chairman said he would “take up 1, 2, 5 and 6 in 1 motion” and commissioners proceeded without recorded objections. The transcript does not contain a formal roll-call vote but shows consensus support for the presented personnel actions.
County staff said details about effective dates and any contingent requirements (such as drug screening for seasonal hires) would be handled administratively and brought back on the formal agenda where needed.
