The Trussville City Schools Board of Education approved the personnel report, which included resignations, retirements, new hires and reassignments, and a recommendation to expand longtime girls basketball coach Tanya Hunter’s role to support the district’s athletics department.
During the personnel presentation, Dr. Martin highlighted Coach Hunter and asked her to stand as the board recognized her service and the board announced a proposed change in duties. The board approved the personnel items by voice vote.
Administrators said Coach Hunter has led Trussville teams to multiple state final appearances and area titles and that the expanded assignment would allow her to “coach coaches” across the district rather than solely serve as a girls basketball coach. Coach Walker described Hunter’s long-term impact, and Dr. Martin said the move would allow her to support the athletic department and her family; the board framed the change as an administrative reassignment contained within the personnel report.
The personnel slate also listed multiple assistant principal assignments for next school year, retirements including the transportation supervisor, amended salary schedules for some employees, recommendations for extra service agreements and transfers, and employment offers for several new staff members. Several new employees were introduced at the meeting, including Trey Stowe and Erin Deck.
The board approved the personnel report as presented. The items approved included contracts and assignments for the 2025-26 school year; administrators noted that some names and details are customarily handled in personnel sessions but that these recommendations warranted public recognition.
