The Village of Round Lake Beach held oath ceremonies and administrative appointments at its May 19 council meeting, swearing in elected and appointed officials and approving several reappointments.
Judge Ortiz administered the oath of office to Scott R. Nichols as mayor and to Bill Morales as village clerk. Several trustees and board appointees were sworn in during the ceremony. The council also swore in Tim Schuster after Police Chief Rodriguez presented him for promotion; Schuster took the oath for the office of deputy chief of police.
Chief Rodriguez introduced Commander Tim Schuster as his selection for deputy chief, noting Schuster—s department tenure and that he has been a commander since 02/2020 and holds a bachelor—s degree in criminology. The judge administered the oath and the mayor and board offered congratulations. The promotion required no formal roll call vote in the public record; it was a swearing and presentation on the meeting agenda.
The council moved and approved reappointments and appointments: trustees moved to reappoint Michael Reisig, reappoint Donald Allen (not present), reappoint Lenora (Leonor) Figueroa to planning and zoning, and reappoint Jerry Mattingly as a police pension trustee. Trustee Husk moved the set of appointments and Trustee Valadez seconded; the board voted to carry the motions as presented.
Judge Ortiz administered oaths to the listed appointees following the board motions. The meeting record contains no separate objections or amendments to the reappointments during the May 19 session.
