Chief Rodriguez told the council the ordinance change had been discussed previously in committee. Trustees raised no questions at the May 19 meeting; Trustee Maria Valadez moved the measure and Trustee Christie Davis seconded it. The board recorded a roll call and the motion carried with all trustees present voting in favor.
The ordinance changes were adopted as written on the council agenda; the meeting transcript shows the board voted to carry the motion after Chief Rodriguez presented the staffing and retirement details. The council did not attach additional modifications or conditions during the public vote.
