Board approves student fees and amended 2025–26 calendar in second readings

The Lyons Township High School District 204 Board of Education approved second readings May 20 of the proposed 2025–26 student fee schedule and a minor amendment to next year’s school calendar.
Brian Stashek, a district staff member presenting the fee schedule, said the district’s core fees remain unchanged: a $25 student support fee, a $75 textbook rental fee and a $150 technology fee. He explained other course‑level fees reflect consumable materials or course purchases; some fees moved because courses changed or new materials were required.
On the calendar, district staff proposed adjusting Presidents Day weekend in February to create a four‑day weekend, reverting to a calendar pattern the district used in a recent year when there was no election day. Staff said the change reduces staff work days adjacent to the holiday and mirrors a past schedule.
Both items were approved by roll call with all members present voting yes. District staff said no fee changes were expected beyond what was included in the second reading and that the modified calendar will be applied to the 2025–26 school year.
