Benton County approves 28E contract list and individual policing contracts with nearby cities

At the meeting, staff said the county is shifting city policing contracts to 28E agreements that must be filed with the secretary of state. The board voted to approve a resolution to enter the 28E agreements effective July 1 and to record individual city agreements in the minutes as they arrive.
During the meeting, the board approved specific contract amounts and maximum weekly hours for four cities. The amounts and hours recorded in the meeting minutes were: a listed amount of $1,690 (item referenced earlier in discussion), City of Garrison: $10,140 for 3 hours per week; City of Atkins: $60,840 for 18 hours per week; City of Urbana: $40,560 for 12 hours per week; and City of Schellsberg: $67,600 for up to 20 hours per week. The board approved the motion to assess those contracts and later approved the broader resolution (Resolution 25-40) authorizing the county to enter 28E agreements with listed cities; supervisors voted in favor.
Staff said more city contracts would “trickle in” and be added to the roster, and that all agreements would be effective July 1 under the consolidated 28E framework.
