The Harrison County Board of Education voted on multiple consent and business items at its May 20 meeting, including approval of the fiscal-year 2026 budget adoption workbook and salary schedules for 2025-26.
The board approved the consent agenda and a series of routine items, then approved a motion to pay a bus-operator training reimbursement for a substitute bus operator. The board also approved an agreement with Thrasher for architectural and civil engineering services for summer 2025 paving projects at an estimated cost of $40,000.
On finance items the board approved the fiscal-year 2026 budget adoption workbook and the 2025-26 salary schedules and supplements as recommended by the superintendent. The board also approved a vendor correction for the social studies textbook purchase order and adopted an updated student media policy (Policy 57 22) to align with West Virginia Department of Education and legislative updates.
In personnel business the board entered executive session and then returned to consider separate personnel recommendations. On one high-profile nonrenewal motion for an employee named Timothy Maxwell the motion was moved and seconded but failed following voice vote. The board approved nonrenewal recommendations for three other employees: the transcript identifies them as "employee b: Charter Lehi" (nonrenewal approved), "employee c: Katrina Adams" (nonrenewal approved) and "employee d: Renee Herr" (nonrenewal approved). The board recorded the votes by voice; roll-call tallies were not provided in the public minutes read into the record.
The board concluded with member comments and an adjournment. No additional funding approvals were tied directly to the contract nonrenewals at the meeting.
