The board chair read the agreement into the record, saying, “This agreement is entered into this, gosh, May 2025 by and between the Board of Education of Middletown City School District and the Middletown Teachers Association,” and described it as a one‑time accommodation tied to the parties’ collective bargaining agreement.
Under the terms described at the meeting, the payments were allocated as $500 each for seven employees and $1,000 each for two employees identified as leads; a board member asked for the total, and a staff member responded that the sum was about $2,003.04. The chair emphasized the document’s text that “nothing contained herein shall be construed or utilized as past practice or precedent setting” in future grievances, arbitrations or contract interpretation disputes.
Board members moved and seconded the MOU, and the motion carried on a roll call vote called by Treasurer Bertram. The board did not direct further action; discussion at the meeting was limited to the reading of the agreement and a clarifying question about the payment total.
The MOU is effective on signature and is set to expire on June 30, 2025, per the text read into the record.
