Staff advised the board that more-detailed, object-level breakdowns exist but cautioned that deep line-item review in open session can extend deliberations; the finance team offered to produce a printed “flipbook” and digital packet for trustees to review in advance.
Trustees asked for a modest level of detail beneath the function numbers (for example, which object codes are included in Function 11 and Function 36) and requested printed copies for review. District staff said a preliminary high-level function report will be ready for the June 10 workshop and that departments were finishing budget meetings with campuses in advance.
Board members and staff acknowledged that many functions have already seen across-the-board reductions (athletics and other activities cited as examples) and that personnel costs remain the major constraint. Staff reiterated the timeline: workshop June 10, public hearing and adoption of the budget targeted for June 17, and the statutory deadline of June 30 for final adoption and filing.
