Bay City ISD trustees voted unanimously to adopt Revision 5 of the proposed 2526 school calendar after district staff and campus principals collected input from teachers and PLCs.
Superintendent and staff reported that principals convened teams and returned preferences; calendar B (labeled Revision 5) had an 80% preference among surveyed staff. District administrators said both calendar options preserved total instructional minutes, included 5.7 bad-weather (maintenance) days, and that Revision 5 reduces two comp days to provide staff with two additional days off while maintaining instructional minute requirements.
Principals and instructional leaders told the board that campus staff generally did not want to begin the school year on a Tuesday or add 30 minutes to daily schedules; elementary teams emphasized that reduced student minutes would hamper instruction. Staff also discussed aligning a professional-development day around spring break and the county fair to limit disruption when student attendance is low.
After discussion the board made a motion to approve Revision 5 of the 2526 calendar; the motion passed 6โ0. District staff said they will correct calendar presentation colors and provide final printed materials to trustees.
