Residents raise park-camera and e‑bike safety concerns; council asks staff and police to follow up

A SynQuest Park resident told the council May 20 she was concerned that new cameras and public crowd-counting could expose children’s locations and broadcast park activity to anyone with internet access.

Leanne Labek said she had been followed after leaving a groundbreaking event and described being filmed outside her house; she asked the town to find a more secure way to manage park visitors and any public camera feeds.

Councilors also raised separate, related safety concerns about groups of e‑bikes riding through the Abacoa golf course and causing damage and conflict with golfers. One councilor said North Palm Beach recently made arrests after course damage and asked police to evaluate options for enforcement or other remedies to protect private and public property.

Assistant Chief Hennessy was present and the council asked him to meet with the chief after the meeting to review e‑bike incidents and park-camera security. The town manager and police staff were directed to follow up with the resident and to report back with suggestions for park crowd management, camera security and privacy safeguards.
