The Homewood City Council added an item to consider installing a right-turn lane at the north end of Cobb Street at the Oxmoor intersection and put the item on the consent agenda; councilors also added a referral to the finance committee to consider funding for a survey related to the project.
Councilors discussed the need to add the survey funding request to the referral agenda; the motion to add that referral passed by voice vote. The right-turn lane item was part of the consent agenda and passed with the consent items.
Separately, the council set a public hearing for July 14 at 6 p.m. to consider a traffic-calming system on the western end of Oxmoor Road near Northmoor Drive and Oakmoor Drive. The Public Safety Committee carried the item over in committee but agreed to the July 14 hearing date; councilors approved the hearing date unanimously.
Next steps: The finance committee will review the survey funding referral; public notices will be published for the July 14 traffic-calming hearing and for any funding decision related to the Cobb Street survey.
