Committee members discussed statutory timing and the need for Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) concurrence before the appointment reaches the full board in Springfield.
Tyler, identified in the meeting as the LaSalle County county engineer, told the committee an IDOT salary letter dated May 9 supported the appropriation and that IDOT returned concurrence on his report April 29. He said the county’s participation in the salary program has not required county expense beyond the MFT split: “So with the resolution, there is an agreement that we participate in the county year salary program, which half that salary, which is $78,750 consistent exchange of federal dollars for MFT dollars back to the county,” Tyler said. He also summarized discretionary grants secured during his tenure, saying, “...almost $4,000,000 for overall for about $12,000,000 additional funds coming into the county since I’ve been here.”
Committee members moved to forward the reappointment to the committee on legislative rules and then to the full board; the procedural motion carried on recorded voice vote. Members noted the Illinois statute allowing appointments to be handled within 100 days before or after the term expiration and said the July full board calendar is the likely next step.
The resolution and the reappointment now advance to the committee on legislative rules and then to the full LaSalle County Board for final action; the committee did not take final appointing action at the meeting.
