City approves survey contract and tables surplus declaration for old police property
Summary

The Finance Committee May 19 authorized a contract with EDTE for topographic and boundary survey services at the former Homewood Police Department site, 1830 Ninth Avenue South. Committee members said the contract, for roughly $10,020 (topo and boundary) plus $2,500 for a record map, will be paid from an escrow being established for the property transaction.
City staff said the survey work already started and that $25,000 escrow was in place to cover survey and related fees. Council voted to authorize the city manager to sign the survey contract; the motion passed 4–0.
Separately, the committee considered a request to declare part of the property surplus for disposition. Staff explained the surplus declaration is premature until the survey defines parcel lines because the city intends to retain part of the site for a park rather than surplusing the entire tract. The council voted to table the surplus declaration until the survey and record map are complete.
