"So the rec center is not in New Ward 2, is the issue," the Mayor said during the meeting, noting the city needs staff confirmation before finalizing any change.
The matter matters because a polling-site change would require amending three resolutions and one order tied to election administration. City staff were directed to confirm the recreation center’s boundary status; if Mr. Kendrick confirms the site is outside Ward 2, council members said the Board of Education can serve as a fallback polling location for Ward 2.
Council members discussed scheduling a special called meeting to adopt any needed amendments before the upcoming votes. The City indicated it can provide the legally required 24-hour notice; councilors agreed that, if required, the special meeting will be held Thursday at 5 p.m. and limited to the polling-site amendments.
