Council schedules potential special meeting after polling‑site issue raised for Ward 2

During the May special-called meeting, Council President Jones raised an issue with polling places for the upcoming municipal election: a recreation center traditionally used as a polling site appears to be outside the newly drawn Ward 2 boundary, which would disqualify that site for Ward 2 voting.
"If Mr. Kendrick confirms this, then that can't be a polling site for the August election," President Jones said. He reported speaking with school officials and said the Board of Education could serve as the fallback polling site if the rec center is ineligible.
Councilors agreed to schedule a specially called meeting later in the week (Wednesday or Thursday) to amend three resolutions and one order related to polling locations if necessary; staff must provide 24‑hour notice. Council members indicated the special meeting would be brief and limited to approving alternate polling locations if Mr. Kendrick confirms the site is ineligible. Council agreed on Thursday at 5 p.m. "If needed," they said, and President Jones tasked staff to arrange the special meeting once the eligibility determination is confirmed.
No final change to polling locations was adopted at the May meeting; action will depend on the staff confirmation from Mr. Kendrick and, if required, a brief special-called council meeting.
