Council appoints two new regular members, one alternate to Riverton planning commission

The Riverton City Council on May 20 appointed two new regular members and one alternate to the city's planning commission.
Mayor Tim Hancock presented four letters of interest to fill two open permanent seats on the nine-member commission. The council moved Tara Carr from her current alternate position to a regular seat, appointed Cody Beers to the other regular seat, and named Richard Bennett as an alternate.
Councilman Kyle Larson made the motion that was seconded by Councilman Mike Bailey. The motion carried on a roll call vote with one member expressing a desire to see new faces but no recorded nay votes; the mayor declared the motion passed.
The planning commission advises the city on zoning, subdivisions, streets and alleys, parks, and other land-use matters. Council encouraged applicants who were not selected to consider other opportunities for service on city boards and commissions.
