Perrysburg students, teams and staff honored for state and regional achievements at May board meeting

Perrysburg Exempted Village School District trustees recognized a range of student and staff achievements during the May 19 meeting, celebrating state‑level honors across academics, arts and athletics.
The board presented OMEA All‑State Band and Orchestra recognitions; Abby Miles, one of the high school orchestra directors, introduced students who won spots through a statewide audition process and performed at the OMEA state convention in February. Miles told the board the audition process involved extensive rehearsal and statewide competition.
Perrysburg Junior High teacher Corbin Brangham introduced nine state Science Day qualifiers—“our largest group ever,” he said—whose projects ranged from disinfecting water with sunlight to measuring sugar levels in ripening bananas. Several students earned superior ratings at regionals and state science day and were invited to present at events including Ohio State University and a regional SAVE (Science Alliance for Valuing the Environment) conference.
The board also recognized Job Connections students for winning the 2025 Ohio Service and Volunteerism Award, noting that program participants logged more than 150 volunteer hours in the Perrysburg community. The wrestling program and several individual wrestlers were honored for state placings; the district noted multiple individual state titles and program‑record qualification marks. Rowing coach Ethan Peters introduced a women’s varsity 4 that finished as Midwest regional finalists and will compete at the Scholastic Rowing National Championship in New Jersey.
In staff recognition, Scott Bucher (principal) presented Andrea Monheim with the Shining Star award for the second semester, citing her counseling work, athletic administration and numerous student‑support initiatives at Perrysburg Junior High.
Trustees praised the breadth of student accomplishment and thanked families, coaches and staff for supporting students in classroom, competition and service. Many of the recognitions underscored extracurricular programs administrators described as integral to district college‑ and career‑readiness efforts.
