The Mohave County Board of Supervisors voted May 19 to postpone action on a resolution supporting inclusion of the Hualapai Valley Groundwater Basin in statewide groundwater-management legislation until the county and the U.S. Geological Survey and Arizona Department of Water Resources complete and present updated modeling and monitoring data.
County Manager Sam Elders told the board the USGS model, first run with 2019 data and again updated with 2024 inputs, continues to show a deficit between annual pumping and recharge in the basin. Elders said the county plans a formal presentation of the 2024 model and related findings to the board in June.
