Show Low council recommends liquor‑premises extension for Buffalo Nickel Brewery and Grill

The Show Low City Council voted unanimously to recommend approval to the Arizona Department of Liquor Licenses and Control of an application by Dana Gail Foster on behalf of Buffalo Nickel Brewery and Grill for a permanent extension of its licensed premises to include Buffalo Bills Tavern and Museum.

The Buffalo Nickel Brewery and Grill currently holds a number 6 bar liquor license that allows on-site sale and consumption of beer, wine and spirits and limited off-sale; Buffalo Bills holds a number 12 restaurant license. The applicant indicated she intends to surrender the number 12 license if the permanent extension is approved. As required by state statute, the application filed with the Department of Liquor Licenses and Control included a diagram of the proposed licensed area.

City staff noted the police department conducted a background check and reported no issues; the state agency conducts its own investigation before making a final decision. Mr. Martinson, an applicant representative, told the council the diagram in the application is accurate and that the applicant “show[s] a fencing that, that encloses the area where we will disperse any type of alcohol beverages.” He said the two venues are under common ownership and staff are shared between the properties.

Vice Mayor moved to recommend approval; Councilman Hatch seconded. The motion passed unanimously. The council’s recommendation will be forwarded to the Department of Liquor Licenses and Control, which will make the final determination.
