Renita Renee Hogan pleaded no contest May 20 to an amended charge of facilitation of the sale of less than 0.5 grams of cocaine in Dixon County Criminal Court. The court accepted the plea and sentenced Hogan to one year suspended to supervised probation and ordered a $1,000 fine.
Assistant District Attorney Lockhart read the state’s proffer, telling the court that agents found drugs, cash and weapons at a residence associated with co-defendants and that Hogan “rode with her husband when he would do drug transactions” and was in the home when officers executed a search warrant. Lockhart said that evidence and surveillance supported the state’s case; he also told the court the defendant’s husband had been jailed in the investigation.
Hogan confirmed in court that she understood the rights she waived by pleading no contest, that she had discussed the matter with counsel and that the plea was voluntary. In bargaining with prosecutors, the indictment’s other counts — including an unrelated conspiracy count — were dismissed as part of the agreement, the prosecutor said.
Judge David D. Wolfe accepted the plea and ordered the sentence and conditions on the record. The judge directed Hogan to see the probation office before leaving the courthouse.
The transcript and the court’s sentencing entry supply the facts and terms the judge relied upon when accepting the plea and imposing sentence.
