Commissioners approve internet, parking, HVAC and signage work for new Marshall County Health Department building

Marshall County commissioners on May 19 authorized several contracts and purchases to make the county’s newly acquired health department building functional ahead of a full move‑in.
Why it matters: County health staff had limited connectivity and HVAC problems in the building; commissioners and county IT and facilities staff approved purchases to ensure services can operate and to avoid repeated manual workarounds.
The board approved an agreement with Hyperwave to bring internet service into the building and allow the health department to operate remote access and county server links. County IT estimated a monthly service cost of about $1.65 (plus taxes) for the circuit; Hyperwave’s setup and network equipment work were included in an approved scope of work.
For immediate building operations, commissioners approved a $3,989 contract with National Asphalt Solutions to reseal and restripe the building parking lot. They also approved a $108,999.29 HVAC contract with Bowman to convert the facility’s system to forced air, replace failing controls and provide staged work so parts of the building can remain usable during installation. Commissioners agreed to rent temporary commercial AC units while work is in progress so clinical services can continue.
The board also approved up to $1,900 for new exterior and window signage from Town & Country Printers; that work will use existing sign frames where possible. County staff and the health board reviewed bids and confirmed funding is available in health department budgets and transferred Health First funds.
Commissioners asked the health board and department leadership to coordinate work so the facility can open in phases while major mechanical and network work proceeds. The board authorized a county signing official to execute the HVAC contract on the county’s behalf.
