Committee members raised training and staffing issues: some members called for a refresher on the discrimination‑complaint process because not all committee members have been trained. The committee discussed designating chairs to receive calls, setting voicemail-to-email, and ensuring a documented record of incoming complaints.
Members also discussed improving the flow of community information to the Select Board. Suggestions included periodic check‑ins or attending Select Board office hours, sending highlights of minutes with 2–3 priority items, and passing along anonymized complaint data to inform Select Board decisions.
As routine business, the committee approved the April minutes as revised. Members also reviewed upcoming outreach events — including a community conversation on race, a high‑school civics showcase at Powers Hall and a June performance tied to Pride activities — and asked volunteers to help publicize those events.
The committee directed staff to explore creating a Google Voice (or similar) phone number, to schedule a refresher on complaint intake for committee members, and to plan options for regular Select Board communication.
