Needham panel approves large change order and $1.5M requisition for RTU replacements at Elliot and Broadmeadow

Details and contractor work: Ken, a project staff member, said the roof change order added ductwork relocation and that the project still had “a hair under a million dollars in the contingency.” He also reported a roughly $5,000 change for relocating an unmarked irrigation line encountered while excavating a pad and retaining wall at Broadmeadow; that work is complete.
The committee approved a group of contractor and consultant invoices tied to the RTU project: three invoices to GGD Consulting (total $10,825.00) for March services on Broadmeadow and Elliot and roof bid support; a commissioning invoice to NGNV5 for $828.45 for April services at Elliot; and the CAM requisition noted above.
Votes and procedure: Each motion was moved by the chair and seconded; roll-call votes were recorded for each item with the committee voting in favor. No member opposed the motions recorded in the meeting transcript.
Looking ahead: Staff said commissioning and final timing would continue as school schedules allow. The Broadmeadow unit was expected to be set in place shortly after school lets out and the team planned loam-and-seed follow-up work after the unit and fencing are in place.
