East Islip board ratifies budget, four propositions and trustee election results

District Clerk Stephanie announced that the results of the school district budget vote, Proposition 1, were ratified by the Board of Education after the public vote, with 1,678 yes votes and 653 no votes.

The ratification action confirmed the district’s previously held public votes on multiple items, including the election of a Board of Education member and three additional propositions related to capital reserve expenditures and student transportation policies. The board conducted formal motions to ratify each result during the public meeting and recorded the tallies announced by the district clerk.

The board ratified the results of the election for members of the East Islip Union Free School District Board of Education, accepting the tally of 1,842 votes for Timothy Sassone and 411 votes for Dr. Michelle Rivers as the reported outcome. The district clerk also announced the ratification of Proposition 2 (expenditure from the 2023–24 capital reserve fund) by a vote of 1,642 yes and 659 no.

Proposition 3, described in the meeting as “student transportation child safety zone,” was ratified by a vote of 1,552 yes and 760 no. Proposition 4, described in the meeting as a change in student transportation ridership eligibility, was ratified by a vote of 1,380 yes and 903 no.

Each of the ratifications was moved and seconded during the meeting; no individual mover or seconder was identified in the public record provided.
